Commissioning a Painting

John is aware that commissioning a portrait is a very important matter for any potential client. Whether as a Boardroom portrait or treasured family heirloom, it will last for generations to come. He believes therefore, it is crucial to spend time with the client discussing their requirements and ideas before producing a series of sketches for approval. At this stage, medium, size of portrait and fees are also agreed.
Although John prefers to work from life, believing that the interaction and conversation between artist and sitter give invaluable insights, he is conscious of the busy lives people lead. He is therefore happy to work from additional photographs if necessary to reduce the number of sittings (normally 4 - 8).
